The Italian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Mr Pasquale Terracciano, will visit Jersey on 16 and 17 July 2015. He will be accompanied by his wife, Mrs Karen Terracciano, and the Italian Consul General, Dr Massimiliano Mazzanti.
During his visit, the Ambassador will meet the Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, and other States Members, including the Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf. He will also meet the Lieutenant Governor, General Sir John McColl, and will be the guest of honour at a dinner hosted by the Bailiff, William Bailhache.
Senator Gorst commented “I look forward to welcoming Mr Terracciano to Jersey during what will be the first official visit to the Island by an Italian Ambassador. Italy is one of the founding members of the European Union and has one of its largest economies, and as such is an important and influential EU member state. While Jersey is not a part of the EU, we are part of Europe and we have long pursued a good neighbour policy towards the member states of the EU. Diplomatic engagement is a key part of that.”
The Ambassador will meet representatives of Jersey’s Italian community at a reception at the Royal Yacht Hotel at 11am on 17 July. He will also attend meetings at Jersey Finance and the Jersey Financial Services Commission.
