The Rt Hon Greg Hands MP, Minister of State for Trade Policy, had a successful visit to Jersey between 31st August and 1st September 2021. This was the first visit for the Minister of State in the Department for International Trade.
On arrival , Minister Hands met with Jersey’s Chief Minister John Le Fondré and the Minister for External Relations and Financial Services, Senator Ian Gorst. The visit included a tour of the States Assembly, a visit to Jersey Dairy, Digital Jersey, St Helier Harbour and Noirmont Point.
This visit provided a valuable opportunity for Jersey Ministers to outline the Island’s priorities for participation in the UK’s trade agreements with non-EU countries in a post-Brexit context, and highlight Jersey’s strengths in both its services sector and famous trademarked products, which enjoy global recognition. Minister Hands came away from the visit with a clearer picture of the contribution that Jersey makes to the UK economy and society more broadly.
